Companies with multiple CA registrations
How many of California's CDPH trauma-cleanup registrations belong to a company holding more than one, and the method behind the count.
39 of the 372 registrations on California's Trauma Scene Waste Management Practitioner register belong to companies that hold more than one registration under the same name, about 10% of all registrations. Only 13 of the about 346 distinct companies on the list are behind that, about 4% of companies.
The register is maintained by the California Department of Public Health under the Medical Waste Management Act. This count is drawn from its current list, dated July 20, 2026, computed directly from the register's own rows.

"Registrations" counts rows on the CDPH list filed under the same company name once punctuation and capitalization are stripped. Some companies in the table above hold more than one registration in the same city rather than in different cities; see the Cities column for the detail behind each row.
How this was counted
This is our own count, not a number CDPH publishes. Two rows count as the same company here only when their company-name strings match exactly once punctuation is stripped and both are lowercased. A legal suffix such as "LLC", "Inc." or "Corp" is treated as an ordinary word, not stripped, so it still has to match: "Aftermath Services LLC" and "Aftermath Services, LLC" merge this way, since the comma is the only difference between them and a comma is punctuation.
That also means this method misses some real repeats. "1st Call Bio Solutions" and "1st Call Bio Solutions, LLC" both appear on the register as separate rows and are NOT counted together here, because "LLC" isn't stripped and the two strings don't match. So 13 is a lower-bound figure: it finds every exact match once punctuation and case are stripped, but not a company that registers under a name differing by a legal suffix or other wording, so the real number of operators holding more than one registration may be higher.
